In My Opinion...

Once again, another so-called 'celebrity' has made the headlines. This time, it's not Martin Sheen, Sean Penn, Alec Baldwin, or Mike Farrell. One might expect a SAG member to voice views on subjects on which they are not qualified to comment (i.e.: political science, world history, international policy, economics, etc.) Many do not educational, business, military, or government credentials, and most probably form their opinions by watching cable news, attending award shows, and reading Variety.

This time, the comments came from a popular country music group while touring Europe. The Dixie Chicks' front person commented to a London audience that she was 'ashamed' that the President of the United States is from Texas.

I'm not a big country music fan, and I would not know this person if I ran into her in public. I don't really care about her opinion in any area other than county music, in which, by the way, I already mentioned not having much interest. The media, however, caught her comments and transmitted them around the world. I can only wonder what her loyal American, flag waving, patriotic, 'don't tread on me', 'remember 9/11', apple pie-loving fans will have to say about it.

While you may be free to express your opinion in America, you might want to check with your PR person first.
