In My Opinion...
The cable TV industry is running a series of spots in this region in an effort to combat the loss of market share to satellite dowlinks (DirecTV/Dish Network). One of the comments suggests that the signal is lost during heavy T-storms, etc (rain fade). Does it happen??...yes, occasionally...but only when a supercell is directly between your dish and their bird. And the signal loss is usually limited to one to two minutes during a rapidly moving storm.
Ironically, during a severe T-storm last week, my cable connection went down for approximately 30 minutes. My electricity blinked long enough to knock out the clock on the microwave...annoying, yes, but not significant. But since my cable company provides my broadband Internet, it was gone, also.
So, where is 'truth in advertising' for the cable company. I guess it depends on your own experience with either system, but the current advertising campaign surely misrepresents
both sides.
